March PTA Newsletter

Ward Families,

Wow! Thank you all for being so patient with us as we travel down this new road of distance learning. We hope that everyone is safe and healthy! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the dedication of our Ward staff. All our teachers are being creative, flexible, and learning new tech skills. They really are the best. 😊

Updates: I will be updating you with a weekly email every Friday. If there is pertinent information that needs to be shared, CCISD Office of Communications will be sending the email. I am trying not to flood your inboxes with too many messages.

Communication: The majority of our families have been in communication with teachers. If you have not been reached via Class Dojo, email or phone, please let us know as soon as possible. Make sure that all contact information (phone number and email) is updated in our Skyward system. Along with videos that will be sent by your child’s teacher, Mrs. Hewitt and I will send a weekly video.

Our technology department is creating videos for you to show with instructions about how to view your child’s lessons in Itslearning. Continue to look on Class Dojo for communication and messages, as well. You will receive this email Sunday evening.

Report Cards: Report cards will be ready to view in Skyward today, Friday, March 20th. If your child receives related services, their progress report will be sent to you by email. Please be on the lookout for those today.

Lessons: Lessons will be available to view every Sunday by 4:00pm. The lessons are planned one week at a time. The lessons include the following:

  • Message from the Teacher
  • Weekly Learning Goals
  • Primary Resources
  • Activities
  • Differentiation: Special education, English Learners, and Gifted & Talented supports
  • Assessments
  • Alternative Plans: for students without internet or a device

If you have any questions about the assignments, contact your child’s teacher through Itslearning or Class Dojo.

Message from our Counselor, Ms. Palma: Hello Stars! It feels like too long since I have seen each of you, but I am thinking of you all the time! This week I will be adding things to Itslearning for you to explore and participate in as it relates to CAMP Character. For this week, I am challenging you to a KINDNESS CHALLENGE!  I want you to pick one act of kindness you could perform for each of your family members! Make sure you watch their face when they find out what kind act you have done! You will see them smile and know that you put that smile there! Show your CARING heart to your family this week. I know we are not able to get back to normal yet, but please know we love and miss our Ward Stars!

One kind word can change a life!

 This Week at Ward:

Core Value of the Week:   Caring

Manner of the Week:
Do not use your hands for hitting.

Word of the Week: Attentiveness – to give a person or a task all my attention

*We would like to wish all of our Ward Stars who celebrated birthday between March 16th- March 27th a HUGE Birthday “Shout-out!”

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
